Who You'll Become

International Sports Sciences Association's bachelor degree program grounds you in the fundamentals of personal training by exposing you to both the theories and practices of this dynamic field. The program features courses on trainer-relevant topics, including anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, assessment, program design, statistics, research methods, entrepreneurship, management, interpersonal relations, communication, and leadership.

Graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science work in training, strength coaching, managerial, directorial and corporate wellness roles; and in the healthcare industry as exercise physiologists and clinical exercise specialists.

Graduates of this program will be able to:

  • Develop safe and effective exercise programming which address all health-fitness related variables.

  • Demonstrate effective management of fiscal, physical, and human resources for health and fitness facilities.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of scientific and theoretical foundations for the delivery of an effective health and wellness program.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of current ethical concerns in the profession leading to successful employment or further schooling.

  • Synthesize, analyze, and interpret information for critical problem solving in human performance-based contexts.

Program Purpose

The Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science program focuses on concepts in kinesiology, physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, exercise programming, and management. The program prepares students for entry- to mid-level jobs in the fitness industry in positions such as training, strength coaching, managerial, directorial and corporate wellness roles; and in the healthcare industry in positions such as exercise physiologists and clinical exercise specialists. Furthermore, graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science program are prepared for post-baccalaureate study in areas such as athletic training, biomechanics, chiropractics, exercise physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, sports management, sport psychology and more. In addition to earning a degree, graduates of the bachelor degree program will also earn up to eleven fitness certifications and two advanced certifications.
